Mr. Richard Ayres
Mr. Rick Ayres has 45 years of teaching experience in English, French, Latin, and Chinese. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in French with a minor in English from the University of Kentucky, and a Master of Arts in Teaching in Linguistics from the University of Louisville. After years at St. Xavier High School in Louisville, Kentucky, Mr. Ayres joined the Academy in September 2014 to teach Latin. He also serves on the academy’s Classical Curriculum Accreditation Team. Having led many student travel groups to China, Tibet, Russia, Australia, and France, Mr. Ayres brings a global perspective to the classroom. Miss Bischel graduated from Miami University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. She is licensed in the state of Ohio as an Early Childhood resident educator. Before becoming the first-grade teacher, Miss Bischel served as a part-time teaching assistant at the Academy in 2017. This will be her first year as a full-time member of the Academy faculty.

Mrs. Brinkman joined the Academy faculty in 2018, and as an IDA Certified Orton-Gillingham Tutor, she works with elementary students on their reading skills. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati before working as a teacher at Antonelli College and St. Vincent de Paul elementary. In 2008 Mrs. Brinkman completed her Orton-Gillingham certification at the Dyslexia Center of Cincinnati, and then tutored at St. Bernard Elementary School until 2018.

Miss Bruner graduated from the Academy with a 4.35 GPA and subsequently joined the Academy as a staff member in 2018. In that first year she worked in the Academy Office and served as an administrative assistant. But Miss Bruner has now joined the Academy’s teaching faculty and is continuing her education as a Faculty Aide and a Student Teacher.

Mrs. Capetillo has served as a member of the Academy faculty and staff in a variety of capacities for over ten years. She has worked as a physical education instructor, lunch monitor, librarian and teacher. She has an Associate’s degree in Applied Science and is a Registered Dietetic Technician. After co-teaching third grade and serving as an Elementary Aide for several years, Mrs. Capetillo became the full-time third grade teacher in 2018.

Mrs. Flum graduated from Miami University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education. She is dual-licensed in grades K-12 Mild/Moderate and Moderate/Severe Special Education, and holds “highly qualified status” in Middle School Language Arts and Middle School Math. Prior to teaching at the Academy, Mrs. Flum taught online Special Education classes and also taught children with severe emotional and behavioral disorders at St. Joseph Orphanage. Before becoming the fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Flum also taught second grade at the Academy from 2014-2018.

Mrs. Cathy Koloc
Mrs. Cathy Koloc is a 1990 graduate of the University of Cincinnati with an associate degree in physical therapy. She has taught various courses at the Academy over the past ten years, including Anatomy and Physiology, Science, Health, and Spanish. One of her greatest joys is in watching her students learn and truly understand the subject at hand. She is currently teaching part time, while also working in rehabilitation at geriatric and acute levels. Mrs. Koloc and her husband, Dan have eight children. Seven of whom are Academy alumni, and one of whom is currently enrolled. Mrs. Koloc and her family are parishioners of Immaculate Conception Church.

Mrs. Cathy Montesano joined the academy staff in 2018. Mrs. Montesano and her family relocated to Cincinnati from Filmore, NY to enroll her three children in the Academy. This is Miss Montesano’s first year as a faculty member at Immaculate Conception, and she is thrilled to become a part of the Academy. In 2018 she earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Psychology from the State University of New York at Albany. She has since completed specialized course work in Special Education, Literacy, and General Education.
Mr. Michael Primett

Michael Primett has taught at Immaculate Conception Academy as needed since 2012. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Mathematics and Computer Science from Brunel University, London. During his University years, he worked in Germany on projects for EUMETSAT. Mr. Primett did graduate work at Bowie State in Maryland. He has worked in the United States since 1995 in Software Development as a contractor with various companies for NASA and DOD projects. Currently, he is a Senior Software Development Engineer with Red Canyon Engineering and Software, working as a subcontractor to Raytheon Corporation on a NASA project. Mr. Primett became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2007. He teaches Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, and Physics, as well as helping with the Academy’s Science Fair. Mr. Primett’s wife homeschooled their two children for seven years before they were enrolled at Immaculate Conception Academy in 2012. Mr. Jonathan Sapp
Latin and Science Teacher
Jonathan joined the Immaculate Conception Faculty in 2019 and teaches 6th and 8th grade Latin as well as middle school and high school science. Originally from Atlanta, Jonathan graduated summa cum laude from Columbia University in 2009, where he majored in German Literature and also took extensive coursework in Latin and Ancient Greek, Romance languages, philosophy, literature, and history. After completing his undergraduate work, Jonathan studied toward a master’s in music at the Freie Universität in Berlin, Germany for two years. Jonathan is also a farmer and entrepreneur, having founded his own farm company, For Real Farms. Mrs. Schoech has served as a Teacher’s Aide and math teacher for the past seven years. Prior to joining the Academy, she homeschooled her own children for over ten years while also serving as a tutor for other students. In 2007 she enrolled her children as students in the Academy and has become a valued member of both our faculty and staff.

Mrs. Judy Schultes has been managing the school office since April 2008. Mrs. Schultes is responsible for the overall management of the day to day office activities and communications. She and her family moved to Cincinnati in 2007 to enroll their son in the Academy. Mrs. Schultes has a background in resort management and advertising. She and her family are parishioners of Immaculate Conception Church.
Dr. Jerry Shawhan

Dr. Jerry Shawhan earned a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering in 1958 and a PhD. in Mathematics in 1966 from the University of Cincinnati. He began his 22-year career at the University in a number of administrative positions and as Adjunct Associate Professor of Mathematics. In 2016, he retired as Treasurer and Group Executive at Cincom Systems, a Cincinnati based software company, where he worked for 33 years. Dr. Shawhan now teaches upper-level mathematics part-time at the Academy. Longtime parishioners of Immaculate Conception Church, he was Treasurer of the Church and Academy for 35 years, and his wife, Marian still serves as sacristan. They have seven children (two now deceased) and have 47 grandchildren.

Miss Shawhan joined the Academy staff in 2016 as an elementary teaching assistant and substitute teacher. After two years of intensive teacher training with the Academy faculty, she became the second-grade teacher in 2018. Miss Shawhan continues in that role this year as she continues her own education and classical teacher training.

Mr. Steven E. Wittman, Sr. is a retired Procter & Gamble executive, with over 40 years of leadership and management experience in both the military and civilian business sector. Mr. Wittman is a 1977 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. In 1981, he earned his Masters in Business Administration from Arizona State University. From 1977 to 1985, Mr. Wittman was a U.S. Air Force officer, instructor pilot, academic instructor, and aircraft commander. He was responsible for instructing student pilots in the aircraft and the classroom, and for leading aircraft flight missions throughout the world. Mr. Wittman has amassed over 3,000 flying hours in T-37, T-38, and C-141 aircraft. In 1985, Mr. Wittman left the active-duty Air Force, joining The Procter & Gamble Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. Over his 34 years at Procter & Gamble, his career was highlighted by a variety of management and executive roles in Marketing and Sales. Mr. Wittman retired from P&G in February 2019. Mr. Wittman hails from Liberty Township, Ohio, and is married to his wife of 42 years, Betsy. He and Betsy have eight children, ranging in age from 40 to 21, all graduates of Immaculate Conception Academy.
